Roboku
Logic deduction puzzles: who took the stolen item?
Every level is a theft. There is a map divided into sections, a group of characters and a missing item. Using each character's clue and three simple rules, you have to work out where everyone is, who the thief is and the exact cell where the loot is hidden. No luck and no guessing: every level has exactly one solution.
What is Roboku?
Roboku is a logic game that blends two classic ideas. From Sudoku it takes the golden rule: two pieces can never share a row or a column. From Clue (Cluedo) it takes the mystery: characters, named rooms and a culprit to unmask. The result is a puzzle where every clue you read removes possibilities from the board, until there is only one way left to place everyone.
Each level takes place in one of four settings: a theater, an aquarium, a library or a museum. The setting decides the names of the rooms (the Stage, the Reading Room, the Archive…), how the characters look and which item has gone missing. Maps range from 6×6 to 12×12 cells and can hold up to eleven suspects.
Every level is built by our own generator and then checked by an automatic solver, which guarantees that the puzzle has a single solution reachable by logic alone. If you get stuck, it's never because information is missing: there is always a deduction waiting to be found.
What a game looks like
On the left (or at the top, on a phone) is the list of characters with their portrait, name and personal clue, followed by the clue for the stolen item. On the right is the map. Select a character and place them on a cell; if you're not sure yet, mark a possible location with a small ball in their color and decide later. When you think you've got it, press Validate: you only need the thief and the item in the right place.
